The Kwajalein Atoll Development Authority (KADA) in co-ordination with MPWIU and DIDA have seen significant progress in the construction of the revetment type seawall on Ebeye’s oceanside.
Implemented by the Pacific Resilience Phase 2 project (Prep II), and constructed by Hall Contracting, the Ebeye seawall enhances the resilience of coastal protection infrastructure on Ebeye. Hall Contracting is well versed in undertaking climate change adaptation works in low-lying Pacific Island nations having recently delivered the Tuvalu Coastal Adaptation Project.
As of July 2025, the 1.81km seawall has reached the MIPD and SDA areas, making steady progress along the oceanside. The RMI is extremely vulnerable to climate change impacts and severe weather events. The new infrastructure protects the Ebeye community from rising sea levels and wave overtopping.
