PRESS RELEASE–
46 Years of Independence
The RMI celebrated its 46th Constitution Day on May 1, 2025. Annually celebrated at the National Track & Field, all sectors participated beginning with a parade along the Uliga backroad all the way to the track and field. Public and private schools led the parade followed by members of the private sector, foreign entities, and various government agencies. The Ministry’s leadership and employees were no exception as everyone proudly joined the festivities which culminated in performances by various local and cultural community groups.
The event, which was organized by the Constitution Day Co-ordinating Committee and implemented by the Ministry of Culture & Internal Affairs, featured the keynote address from H.E. President Dr. Hilda C. Heine.
“Despite our achievements over the years, it should be obvious to all of us that many of our people are choosing to leave our country for greener pastures in the United States and elsewhere,” the President said to the event held at the Jenrok track and field. “They are moving in pursuit of better opportunities. As I see it, our people are choosing better and easier paths to personal success.”
She asked, who will step up and take what could be a more difficult path to build the Marshall Islands for the future?
“Now more than ever, we need Marshallese patriots to choose the other path,” she said. “The path that leads back to our shores. A path that is not always easy. But a path that leads to a brighter Marshall Islands.”
The theme for this year was “Bwil im Korene” which means to row and paddle hard and fast to reach your destination quickly. A fitting motto for the RMI and especially the Ministry. The uniforms for this year featured ocean blue colored t-shirts with white wording and designs featuring the Ministry’s new logo.
